WHY?

CreativesDAO, the main sponsor, is sun-setting its Trust. To leverage its remaining treasury of 1995 NEAR for the benefit of the community, the Trustees have decided to launch the Create./Dev Movement with Potlock's assistance. This initiative focuses solely on creative-technical projects, aiming to support innovations that blend technology and art.

Potlock provides an innovative capital allocation mechanism known as Quadratic Funding. This system amplifies the impact of community donations by using a mathematical formula to match individual contributions with funds from a larger pool. It gives more weight to the number of contributors rather than the size of each donation, ensuring a more democratic distribution of funds.

1. Provide financial support for projects that might struggle to find backing in traditional tech or art circles
2. Create network effects around technology and culture
3. Attract more diverse talent and ideas to NEAR (and beyond)

Key Dates

• Application deadline: October 31, 2024

Eligibility

The movement seeks individuals or groups with an artist's heart and a developer's mind, embodying the true essence of Create./Dev. To maintain quality and value, the following rules apply:

1. Candidates must be open-source (with a documented portfolio)
2. Applicants can be individuals (artists/developers) or DAOs
3. Candidates must blend innovation in tech, art, and culture

The round remains open until the end of October, concluding with the chief accepting up to 14 new addresses.
